There are many who think that living right and doing good works will be sufficient enough to please God and to go to heaven.They say no matter what religion or faith one belongs to, good works and good living is what really counts.God never said that.The Bible makes it very clear that man by nature is in a fallen state and there is no one good.The first man sinned and as a result all came under sin.”All have sinned and fall short of the glory of God.”Romans;3;23

Man by his own desire or effort cannot get out of this situation.That is why God sent his only begotten Son into the world as the Savior of the world. Lord Jesus said,”I am the way ,the truth and the life ,no one comes to he Father but by me.”John;15;6 He was sent as a teacher by God the Father to show us what is right and how to do the things that are pleasing to God.Lord Jesus was sent to raise up the mankind from their fallen condition.The Bible teaches us that only after being delivered from the power of sin one can do things that are pleasing to God.One needs first of all to come out of darkness to light.Jesus Christ is the light of the world.He is the light which can shine any man who comes to him.Jesus Christ can take one from darkness to light and from untruth to truth and from death to life.Only if one believes in him.Lord Jesus said,“If you continue in my word ,you are my disciples indeed ,and you shall know the truth and the truth shall set you free.”John;8;32
